Dallas' Planning Department proposes to write an ordinance that could enable neighborhoods to preserve certain of their desirable features in the face of residential teardowns. Dallas Homeowners League and the North Dallas Neighborhood Alliance recently sponsored a neighborhood meeting where Dallas Development Services presented and discussed the proposal.
The ordinance will be presented to the city's Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee Thursday, 2 June at 9:00 A. M. in room 6ES at City Hall. You are invited and urged to attend.
It is important that a large audience attend the meeting, to stress neighborhood interest in the ordinance. Quality of life in many Dallas neighborhoods is changing as developers tear down older homes and replace them with houses that are out of character for the area. The proposed overlays have been crafted to help preserve some features of the established neighborhoods.
At the neighborhood meeting, Councilwoman Veletta Forsythe Lill stressed the need for citizens to express an opinion to city staff, ZOAC, the City Plan Commission and Council members.
Let your voice be heard.
