The reports below were obtained from the Dallas Police Department.  The area includes all homes between Greenville and Skillman Ave. Data is broken into four Reporting Areas. Please scroll down to view the data for your area.

Bat Robbers:  We have an update from DPD concerning the robbers I reported last week. This came from Lt. Hobbs:  "On 5-8-08 (Thursday morning) between 12:00am and 1:30am there were two robberies on Greenville Ave.  One occurred in the 2600 block and the other in the 3200 block.  We believe that the suspects were the same ones on both offenses.  The description is two Latin males in their early 20's, one was wearing a hoodie sweatshirt and was carrying a bat.  A witness observed the suspects get into a small, gold, 4 door vehicle, which was already occupied by a driver, and left the location.  Please be vigilant and aware of your surroundings when you are out in your neighborhood.  Please call 911 immediately if you see any suspicious persons or vehicles parked on your streets or idling with someone in themthat you do not recognize.  If you observed anything suspicious on Thursday morning and this rings a bell, please let us know immediately."  You can email Lt Hobbs directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Intruders: We've had a couple of strange incidents lately involved accidental intrusions by inebriated or disoriented individuals. In one case, a guy was coming home after a night of drinking and managed to break in the door of the house next door to the one he was supposed to be at. After wandering around the house in the middle of the night and scaring the bejeebies out of the residents, he realized he was in the wrong place and fled. In another incident, an individual who appeared to be high on drugs appeared in the early hours of a Sunday morning trying to break into a home on Ellsworth. He was nicely dressed and did not appear to be a typical thug. Fortunately the homeowner was smart to not have answered the door, even though he was well-dressed. The guy violently beat on the door trying to get in for over 25 minutes.  Police did ultimately arrive and take him into custody. He claimed he thought that he was at his friend's house and the friend was not letting him in. He's been charged with Criminal Mischief.  This is just a reminder that when you live as close to the bars as we do, these things can happen. Be on your guard and don't open your door to strangers, especially at odd hours.
ENP Update: We've had quite a few people taking advantage of the home perimeter checks and security audits with ENP. We're also starting to get some good intel from the neighbors. Several people have flagged down the officer and tipped him off to potential drug houses. These have been reported to narcotics for observation. Now the bad news.... Officer Keith has also been looking in car windows and pulling on door handles of cars in the street. In one sweep of eleven streets, he found at least one vehicle in EVERY BLOCK that had left valuables in clear view and at least one who left their door unlocked. BMVs are one of our biggest challenges, do your part by locking up and keeping valuables out of sight.
Among other things Officer Keith is doing:
- Stopping those guys that distribute flyers and checking IDs. (One arrested on warrants already).
- Driving past construction sites and getting those blaring radios turned down.
- Stopping to talk with delivery trucks and lawn service crews to familiarize himself
- Voluntarily relocating homeless people to the downtown shelter
- Stopping vehicles with excessively loud music
Useful Tip:You may have seen this tip in the Lakewood Advocate last month but I thought it was brilliant. When someone steals your wallet or purse, they know they have a limited amount of time to use it before its cut off. They will run to the nearest store and start charging. While you're digging around looking for your last statement to get the phone number, the charges continue to stack up. Program your bank's phone number into your cell phone. Then you can speed dial them and cut down on the loss.
